The Drying Flying Carpet :

The Flying carpet is a legendary mode of air travel in stories from Arabia, Asia and some Slavic cultures. One such traveller to Lauttasaari could not resist to wash the flying carpet in the same way as the residents of Lauttasaari do.
Materials: Metal, plastic, rope

Coat Hooks:

I see coat hooks as a sign of the private history of people. There is a song from a Russian poet about a raincoat hook and its meaning. (Even when there is no coat on it any more it is a symbol of something very important, of something that’s missing). The hooks tell as about the past and the future: about a cozy household and long journey. An empty coat hook is a symbol of absence and also a possible presence of someone: he was here, but now he is somewhere else. My hooks show that the humans are always here, even if at the moment they are not. They are all different, made of different metals, have different style and therefore can tell us something about their different owners.
Materials: Metal coat hooks, nails

The Ghosts of the War:

In 1854 began The Crimean War that has affected a lot the history of the island called Lauttasaari: because of the war there were started to set up fortifications by building ramparts on Lauttasaari. The defence was holding in the Crimean War and Särkiniemi wasn’t occupied. On the site of the island, on the place called Särkiniemi, Joseph Johan Back from the province of Ostrobothnia became a victim of the war and died 9.8.1855. His grave has been known a long time as “A grave of An Unknown soldier”. The war is occupying, power, crudeness, death, but also it is fear, which shadows over the life. From this idea has become the name of my artwork “The Ghosts of the War”. The artwork is dedicated to all those victims of the war, for the past, for the present and for the future and also for those who are forced to fear the war in their life. Has there been a period without a war in the human history?

Dark Matter:

Once upon a time there were Men and Demons. The main difference was that the Demon went through experience and didn’t bestow a thing to anybody and therefore experience didn’t give him anything back but it made him poorer and he faded away as raw clay in wind and rain. The Man was rather impregnated with experience when he didn’t make a choice of complete passivity. This story tells about the contemplation of a passive loss for the Demon and for the environment.

Upcode Nature:

Machines learned to read. Language is a coding system. QR code is a coding system to code language and numbers. If you decode the pattern of Upcode Nature you’ll find the next coding system. But this is not developed by mankind and it is still the most efficient and vivid code the world offers. It’s the DNA.
